CHRISNEY — The Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Chrisney hosts a Beacon program every Saturday evening. The program begins at 5 p.m. and includes a meal, music, and a message. This program is free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend.

ST. MEINRAD — The annual St. Meinrad Parish Fall Picnic will be held on the church grounds on Sunday, Sept., 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Featured will be fried chicken dinners, famous soup, by the bowl or gallon, ice cream by Windmill Chill and a food court.

There will be live music by Hagedorn Family Band, a Kid’s Zone featuring games and activities, Country Store, Theme Baskets, Quilt Raffle and Cash Raffle.

There will be an architectural tour of the Parish church at 11 a.m.

The celebration will conclude with the theme basket and raffle drawings.

CHRINSEY — The Chrisney Fall Festival parade organized by the Chrisney Volunteer Fire Dept. will be taking place on Saturday, Sept. 17 starting promptly at 2 p.m. Parade line up will be at the Chrisney 4-H fairgrounds. All parade entries should be in line by 1 p.m. Parade entry forms should be completed and returned by Sept. 11. A copy of the form is available on the Chrisney Fall Fest Facebook page.

ST. MEINRAD — The St. Meinrad American Legion, Post 366, will sponsor Open Mic Night on Friday, Aug.19 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. central time.

Musician sign-ups will begin at 6 p.m. central time. Bring your guitar, fiddle, or banjo, and share your talent. Sound and mics will be provided, and a drum set will also be available.

Depending on sign-ups, each performer will take the stage for approx. 15 minutes.

There is no cover charge, and the public is welcome to come enjoy some great live music and experience local talent.

LINCOLN CITY — The Spencer County Soil and Water Conservation District and Lincoln State Park will be having another workshop on August 13, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nature Center that covers canning and preserving garden vegetables. The LSP gate fee is $7 for in state and $9 for out of state vehicles.

11th Annual St. Meinrad Rocks Fest

ST. MEINRAD ¬- The 2022 St. Meinrad Rocks Fest will be held on Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 24 at the St. Meinrad Park. The two-day outdoor event will feature a full lineup of performers on two stages, vendors, raffle, beer garden, and concessions. Admission is free. Bring lawn chairs. No coolers or glass. Proceeds will benefit the upcoming St. Meinrad Town Museum.

Mariah Hill “Soup” 5K Run/Walk

MARIAH HILL — The Mariah Hill Social Concerns Committee will be holding their 5th annual 5k run/walk on Sunday, Aug. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. It is the morning of the Mariah Hill picnic. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. T-Shirts guaranteed to all participants. First place male/female will win a gallon of Mariah Hill’s famous soup. Prizes awarded in each category. All finishers are eligible to win giveaways from local sponsors. The race begins and ends at the Patriot Station in Mariah Hill.

ROCKPORT -Master Eric Elliot from Elliot Kyusho-Jitsu martial arts school will be hosting a free self-defense seminar for ages four and up on Thursday, Aug. 4. It will be located at Crown Pointe Dance Studio in Rockport from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

EVANSTON — The Wittman Reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m., with food served at noon. The reunion will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 12308 E CR 1160 N, Evanston.

Reunion registration starts at 11 a.m. At the registration desk, family members will be asked for their current address, email and list any births, deaths, marriages, etc. that have occurred in their family since 2018.

A carry in dinner starts at noon. Bring a covered dish of your favorite food. Please bring serving spoons for your dish. Fried chicken, coffee, tea, lemonade, soft drinks, bread and tables service will be provided.

After lunch we will take “family” pictures and exchange stories.

Once again, we will have a silent auction to help generate funds for our next reunion in August 2024. If you wish to donate an item or more, please bring it with you.

The “Young Abe’s Bluegrass and Country Craft Fair” at LSP

LINCOLN CITY — Lincoln State Park is partnering with the Lincoln Amphitheatre to launch their first “Young Abe’s Bluegrass and Country Craft Fair” on Sunday, Aug. 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Lincoln Amphitheatre parking area. The event will feature a variety of craft vendors, food, and naturalist-led activities for people of all ages. The Young Abe’s Bluegrass and Country Craft Fair will run in conjunction with the Lincoln Amphitheatre’s first Amp Unplugged event of its season—an intimate Sunday late afternoon event featuring the bluegrass sounds of Owensboro’s “Kentucky Shine” band and very special guest Evansville’s Troy Miller. That event is set to begin at 4 p.m.

Tickets for the show will get you in the park as early as 11 a.m. to be able to enjoy the full day of activities and are only $12.95 per person and can be purchased at bit.ly/KYShineatAMP. DALE — The 54th annual Dale Fall Festival will be held Sept. 8-10 is Spencer County’s largest street festival. Enjoy specialty food items like elephant ears, pronto pups, lemonade shake-ups, and more.
